- 10 March 2007 |

|
| It was a
beautiful morning and we were so pleased, so we made an early start and
headed for the airfield. We prepared AY and telephoned Compton Abbas
to see how strong the wind was, the direction and if the field was too
wet. |
| AY behaved
beautifully and started first time. It was fantastic to be in the
air again. We flew past Chilbolton and could see the Isle of Wight.
The ground was very wet as we came to Salisbury. |
|

|
| We called Compton
Abbas and discovered they were using Runway 26 and they were quite
busy. We joined the circuit and landed in turn. On landing it was
suggested we park close to the other planes on the airfield so as not to
get too close to the "boggy" part of the field. |
| We ordered a
welcome coffee and sausage baguette and a good look around. Compton
Abbas is building a second storey above the restaurant we understand for
accommodation for the Manager. |
|

|
| We then walked
about the hanger and discovered the Condor recently sold by a friend of
ours to a group based at Compton Abbas. |
|

|
| The day was still
beautiful and since we had not flown for so long we decided to make full
use of the day. We took off and flew back along the North side of
Salisbury plain. Jan wanted some aerial pictures of Cranleigh Common
for her U3A project so we headed towards Guildford. Pictures taken
it was time to head back via Popham for some fuel, and another
drink. The Antanov based at Popham took off just before us, what a
lovely sight. |

| Home to put AY
away, what a great day |
