John Greathead was born on 12 April 1845 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of Isaac Wilkenson Greathead and Ann Morrall. He was baptized on 13 September 1847 in St Phillips, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, Margaret, Elizabeth, William, John, George, Isaac and Ann were all baptised together. For some reason the family must have decided to return to the Church of England in 1847 and rebaptise their children.6,3,7 In the census of 30 March 1851 at 42 Lawley Street, Aston, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as the son of Isaac Wilkenson Greathead.5,1 He married Harriet Bolstridge, daughter of Josiah Bolstridge, on 1 August 1864 in St Martins, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, the ceremony was witnessed by Josiah Bolstridge and Elizabeth X Bolstridge.
