Edith Mary Greathead was born in 1920 in Prestwich, Lancashire, England.2 Edith left home with Harold Walker who was a married man about twenty years older than Edith. They lived in Berkshire.1,3 She was the daughter of Thomas Henry Greathead and Edith Hull. She married Harold Walker in 1943 in Manchester, Lancashire, England.4 Harold and Edith seem to have remarried in Hawarden in 1955.5 Her husband Harold died on an unknown date she did.3 She died from cancer, her youngest son was only seventeen years of age.3

John Greathead was born on 8 June 1910 in Prestwich, Lancashire, England.2,3 He was the son of John Greathead and Veronica .... He married Nellie Headland on 7 August 1933 in Manchester, Lancashire, England.4,2 It would appear from an article in the Guardian of 5 February 1946 that John who was living at Polefield Gardens, Prestwich attempted to vote using a ballot paper in the name of Charle Hague. The Policeman on duty knew Mr Hague and challenged John. The case was taken to court where John received a fine of £2 and ordered to pay 41 shillings costs.5 He died in 1979 in Trafford, Cheshire, England.6

John Greathead was born in 1721/22 in Halnaby, Crofton on Tees, South Shields, Durham, England.1 He was the son of Thomas Greathead and Mary Frank. He married Mary Rainsden, daughter of Henry Rainsden, on 30 May 1744 in Fleet Prison, London, England, On the supposition that John may have been working in the Salt Duty office or as a secretary to Mark Milbank and the Fleet Prison is just to the East of York Buildings which is where the Headquarters of the Salt Duty was located and Sir Mark Milbank of Halnaby Hall was a Commissioner. Clandestine marriages were common at the time among people who were not resident in a parish or had something to hide. It is believed they had thirteen children but I only know of seven.1,2,6 He died on 15 December 1802.1
