Elizabeth is described as the housekeeper.4 He married Elizabeth Liddell, daughter of John Greathead and Jane Fishburn, on 14 May 1861 in Stockton, Durham, England, Elizabeth signed with her mark.1,5 He died in 1883 in Stockton, Durham, England.6

John was baptised as Greathead and illegitimate to widow, he adopted name of Chaytor later in life.1 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Trimdon, Sedgefield, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Joseph Chaytor.4 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Trimdon, Sedgefield, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Joseph Chaytor John was a tailor.5 John a tailor went on to marry Hannah and they had by 1871 eight children and continued to live in Trimdon.6

     John Greathead was baptized on 29 January 1787 in Scotton, Hipswell, Yorkshire, England.4,5,6,7 He was the son of William Greathead and Elizabeth Robinson.3 He married Jane Fishburn, daughter of Joseph Fishburn and Margaret ..., on 25 January 1808 in Hipswell, Yorkshire, England, Married after banns, both John and Jane were from the Parish of Catterick and Chapelry of Hipswell.8,9 John was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 6 June 1841 in Plenton Road, Coxhoe, Durham, England, John was an agricultural labourer living with his wife and two of his son, George and Edward.10,11 John was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Coxhoe Pottery, Coxhoe, Durham, England, John was an agricultural labourer, also in the household was their granddaughter, Sarah Greathead aged 8 and a scholar born Kelloe.4,10,12 He died before 1861.13

She was baptized on 16 February 1790 in Bolton on Swale, Yorkshire, England.5 She married John Greathead, son of William Greathead and Elizabeth Robinson, on 25 January 1808 in Hipswell, Yorkshire, England, Married after banns, both John and Jane were from the Parish of Catterick and Chapelry of Hipswell.6,7 In the census of 6 June 1841 in Plenton Road, Coxhoe, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of John Greathead John was an agricultural labourer living with his wife and two of his son, George and Edward.8,9 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Coxhoe Pottery, Coxhoe, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of John Greathead.3,8,10 Her husband John died on before 1861.11 Jane was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 7 April 1861 in Blackgate, Coxhoe, Durham, England, M1.12 She died in 1866 in Durham, England, Her age was given as 88 on the register.13

     Margaret Skipper was born about 1862 in Cassey, Norfolk, England.1 In the census of 2 April 1871 in 44 Sixth Row, Coxhoe, Durham, England, she was listed as the daughter of Charles and Rebecca Skipper. They moved from Norfolk between 1864 and 1867 assumed by the birth place of their children.2 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Brewery Square, Wingate, Durham, England, she was listed as the daughter of Charles and Rebecca Skipper. Charles was a miner living with his wife and children.3 She married Albert Hawley, son of William Hawley and Elizabeth Greenwell, in 1884 in Easington, Durham, England.1,4 In the census of 5 April 1891 in Davison Houses, Wingate, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of Albert Hawley.5 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 436 New Cross Row, Wingate, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of Albert Hawley.6

     Robert Greathead was born on 16 July 1819 in Scorton, Richmond, Yorkshire, England.3,4,5,6,7,8 He was the son of Robert Greathead and Esther Robson.2 He was baptized on 8 August 1819 in Catterick, Yorkshire, England.9,10 He married ... ....8 Robert was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Coxhoe Pottery, Scotton, Yorkshire, England, Robert was a widower, and worked as a hind and agricultural labourer. Also present was his nephew John Greathead, aged 10, a scholar who was born in South Hetton. He also had a lodger called George Britton or Britten, aged 48, from Leyburn, Yorkshire who worked as a labourer.1,11,12 He married Sarah Ann Bright, daughter of John Bright and Patience Fuller, on 2 December 1857 in St Paul's Church, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, This was Robert's second marriage.13,14,15,16,17 Believe emigrated to Australia and then sent for his nephews Robert and George.15 Robert and his son George used to make a tonic called Greatheads mixture that was sold in Australia as a cure for fevers of all kinds. George was a herbalist.18 He died in 1889 in Hotham, Victoria, Australia.13,6,19

     John Weatherall was born about 1826 in Houghton le Spring, Durham, England.1,3 He was the son of Christopher Weatherall.2 He married Jane Greathead, daughter of John Greathead and Jane Fishburn, on 3 April 1843 in Kelloe, Easington, Durham, England.2,4 John was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1851 at East Hetton, Durham, England, John was a coalminer, John, his wife and family also had Jane's brother George staying with them and a lodger called Oswald Hudson who was also a coal miner. The family were enumerated under the surname of Wherell.5 John was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 7 April 1861 in 15 Australia Row, Seaham, Durham, England, John was a coal miner. He was living with his wife and children. little Mary was only two months old.6 He died in 1874 in Easington, Durham, England.7

     Margaret Hanley was born about 1814 in Ireland The 1851 census states Margaret was born in Ireland, later census returns state she came from Liverpool, and even later Richmond, Yorkshire.2,3 She married William Greathead, son of John Greathead, on 11 September 1832 in Houghton le Spring, Durham, England.4 In the census of 6 June 1841 in Outlying Farms & Dwellings, Hole House, (Straggler), Kelloe, Easington, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of William Greathead.5,6 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Bank Top, Hipswell, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the wife of William Greathead Margaret was an agricultural labourer.7 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Trimdon Colliery, Sedgefield, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of William Greathead.8,9 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Trimdon Colliery, Trimdon, Darlington, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of William Greathead.10 Her husband William died on 14 December 1873 in Trimdon Colliery, Sedgefield, Durham, England, from jaundice that he suffered from for four months and bronchitis for two months. His death was registered by Sarah Lumsden of Haxwell Lanes who signed with her mark, was this his daughter? or a nurse?. He was listed as a farm labourer, did she not know he was a cordwainer by trade or maybe he changed it in later life.11 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Back Street, Haswell, Durham, England, she was listed as the sister in law of Isabel Verrill.12 She died in 1886 in Easington, Durham, England, The GRO index list her as 65 years old, but the age is only as good asthe informant's knowledge.13
