Mervyn worked as mechanic and they lived in Kuratwhiti Street in Greytown.^2,5 His wife Lorna died on 24 May 1984 in Greytown, Wairarapa, New Zealand, aged 74.^2,3 He died on 17 May 1987 in Masterton Hospital, Masterton, New Zealand, aged 80.²

     Lorna Winifred Haigh was born on 12 March 1910 in Greytown, Wairarapa, New Zealand.^2,3 She married Mervyn John Greathead, son of Leonard Bright Greathead and Annie Haigh, on 1 February 1935 in Greytown, Wairarapa, New Zealand, Mervyn and Lorna were first cousins and had a very happy marriage but no children. Mervyn worked as mechanic and they lived in Kuratwhiti Street in Greytown.^2,4 Lorna underwent a hip operation in Wellington Hospital, she convalesced at 7 The Quadrant between 18-26 February 1979.² She died on 24 May 1984 in Greytown, Wairarapa, New Zealand, aged 74.^2,3

     Evelyn Maude Greathead was born on 25 August 1908 in Wairarapa, New Zealand.^2,3,4 She was the daughter of Leonard Bright Greathead and Annie Haigh. Evelyn was unfortunate in being in an accident when she was two years old when she walked into a reaper and binder drawn by horses when her legs were cut off just below the knees. After a long time in hospital she eventually recovered and the legs knitted and she was able to finally get married and she had five boys.⁴ Evelyn lived as a girl in a house in Greytown called Te Rakau Nui.⁴ She married Oliver John Bartle, son of Thomas Bartle and Sarah Louise Hobbs, on 1 February 1936 in Mt Albert Methodist Church, Auckland, New Zealand.^2,3 Evelyn, Oliver, Owen, Earle, Jeanne, Estelle, Rita and Beatrice attended the funeral of Mervyn John Greathead on 17 May 1987.⁵ She died on 28 July 1988 in Greenlane Hospital, Mount Roskill, Auckland, New Zealand, aged 79 Her usual address was Gracedale Homes, 20 Radmor Road, Auckland. She died from cerebrovascular accidents, Ischaemic heart disease and Chronic Pyelonephritis.^6,7 She was buried on 30 July 1988 in Mangere Lawn Cemetery, Auckland, New Zealand.⁷

     Oliver John Bartle was born on 3 August 1902 in Mt Eden, Auckland, New Zealand.^2,4 He was the son of Thomas Bartle and Sarah Louise Hobbs.³ He married Evelyn Maude Greathead, daughter of Leonard Bright Greathead and Annie Haigh, on 1 February 1936 in Mt Albert Methodist Church, Auckland, New Zealand.^2,4 Evelyn, Oliver, Owen, Earle, Jeanne, Estelle, Rita and Beatrice attended the funeral of Mervyn John Greathead on 17 May 1987.⁵ His wife Evelyn died on 28 July 1988 in Greenlane Hospital, Mount Roskill, Auckland, New Zealand, aged 79 Her usual address was Gracedale Homes, 20 Radmor Road, Auckland. She died from cerebrovascular accidents, Ischaemic heart disease and Chronic Pyelonephritis.^6,7 He died on 26 February 2001 in Resthaven Eventide Home, 28 View Road, Mt Eden, Auckland, New Zealand, aged 98 from old age, left ventricular hypertrophy and chronic renal impairment.^8,9 He was buried on 5 March 2001 in Mangere Cemetery, Mt Eden, Auckland, New Zealand.¹⁰
